's" marla tellez joins us live in our newsroom with a look at the search for the state's most wanted man. laura? >> reporter: so much of southern california is on edge especially since lapd is running short on new leads. since friday christopher dorner has gone silent though last night police in north ridge received two separate 911 calls from people thinking they spotted dorner inside this lowe's store. the store was evacuated but police say the reports turned out to be a case of mistaken identity. so the search does continue to focus on the area around big bear where some new developments happened over the weekend. police say they found a cache of weapons and camping gear inside dorner's burned out truck and also in a new twist, los angeles police say they are going to reopen dorner's case that originally closed back in 2009 when he was fired for making false complaints about his training officer and no doubt this is what dorner wants. >> people think that maybe there is something to what he says. i want to put that to rest. the only way i know how to put that to rest is to review what

kim shows us what happened. >> crews pulled this silver corvette up a steep hill. it crashed 150 feet down the embankment after the driver of the car lost control while going up the mountain. this is where the car went off the cliff about a mile east of clayton road. we spoke to one witness who saw the whole thing unfold. >> as i was returning home from a hike i saw the car seemingly over steering and quickly went down the edge and down the ravine. >> the passenger got out of the car on his own and called 9-1-1. the san jose fire department said he suffered minor to moderate injuries, but the driver was ped tray. was trapped. they used ropes and pulleys to bring him back up the hill. about 25 emergency personnel took part in the effort which took more than two hours. >> it took personnel and hauling and strength pulling him up. he is using pulley systems, but we have to climb up a steep em bankment. steep embankment. >> a helicopter was waiting to transport the driver to the hospital. he is said to have suffered significant injury. chp officers are investigating the accident. they say

"today in the bay's" marla tellez joining us live from our newsroom with the area's police and searching what they are all up to today. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the search is expanding but with focus on particular areas. one of those spots is big bear which does remain on lockdown today. people in this resort town, which is about 80 miles east of los angeles are being told to stay inside with their windows locked. this is because investigators found a burning truck that belonged to the suspect christopher dorner in this area yesterday. the truck is now being tested at a crime lab today in san bernardino. today some lapd officers and their families are getting extra protection during this manhunt. dorner posted an 11-page manifesto online naming people in the department and blaming them and the department as a whole for essentially ruining his life. he was let go from lapd in 2009 but discharged as a navy reservist just week ago and now investigators say dorner is out to get revenge on officers. >> people with whom he had a grievance were fair game and so wer
